January 8, 2009 New Illinois Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC)Earlier today, CMS announced the new Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for Illinois providers. Noridian Administrative Services, LLC, (NAS) has been awarded the contract for the combined administration of Medicare Part A/Medicare Part B claims (with the exception of home health and hospice) payment for Illinois and the two other Region 6 states, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Palmetto Government Benefits Administrator, LLC will process Illinois’ Medicare home health and hospice claims. As of this writing, CMS has not released any further information with respect to a transition timetable (from National Government Services and Wisconsin Physician Services to Noridian). Also, the announcement of the new Illinois MAC is likely to impact the timetable for the Medicare Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) process in Illinois as well.
